Dental Implants
Dental
implants are an ideal way to replace missing teeth! They consist of an artificial root that is
surgically placed into the upper or lower jaw bone by a dentist or periodontist
(a specialist of the gums and supporting bone) and a porcelain tooth that is
attached to the artificial root. The
porcelain teeth attached to the titanium implants are extraordinarily natural
looking, strong and stable, and often enhance or restore a patient’s smile!
Reasons
for dental implants:
- To
replace one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth
- To
restore chewing, speech, and digestion
- To
support a bridge or a denture making them more secure
- To
resolve joint pain or bite problems caused by missing teeth or shifting
teeth
- To
restore a patient’s smile

What should I expect
from the dental implant procedure?
Dr.
Bogan utilizes the latest digital technology to ensure the precision placement
of dental implants through 3D Digital X-Rays and Computer Guided Surgery. Because of the precise nature of the surgery,
healing time is greatly reduced and the resulting crown restoration is much
more esthetic.
At
the first appointment, 3D digital x-rays and a digital impression are taken so
that Dr. Bogan can determine if there is enough bone, gum tissue, and spacing
available for a dental implant. We use
Galileos 3D imaging for the highest quality 3D image possible. One scan results in 200 individual exposures
that show a patient’s teeth, bone, and anatomical structures in great detail
allowing the highest precision from diagnosis to treatment planning to the
actual surgery. This technology
eliminates any guesswork from the process.
At
the next appointment, a local anesthetic is used to numb the area of placement
and the dental implant is placed in the jaw bone using a computer generated
surgical guide. The implant is allowed
to stabilize for a few months during which time patients healing progress will
be monitored.
Following
implant stabilization, a digital impression will be taken and an all porcelain
crown will be made to esthetically match the existing teeth. The final crown is then inserted about 2
weeks later completing the process.
The
patient will receive care instructions when treatment is completed. With good oral hygiene, eating habits, and
regular dental visits the new implants will last many years.
